Serious rust issue may have to put her down.

Had the datsun's unders blasted not good was afraid before it was even done. Missing 7 inches of passenger floor support and nice chunk of floor/firewall gone. Body shop added that they would give me 50.00 to take it to the junk yard.........mothers all im going to say........rest looks solid few holes by the rear subframe where it bolts in. Know this was a all to commen rust area. Has anyone repaired their floor support or frame ?? Thinking 16 gauge bent over the frame welded in and patching the floor support useing a aftermarket I found....Pics to come sad car finally runnin perfect drove it 500 miles this week with no issues hate to put her down.....Also is there any members in the pittsburgh area help give me some direction.

Welcome to owning a Z.

Having said that, don't be so EMO. Fixing floor boards is easy, especially if the car is already torn apart & the metal blasted. I did my floorboards myself & made sure they were DOUBLE strong (check my Cardomain pics).

Just get yourself some nice galvanized sheet metal & pound out some replacement panels. Really... don't make it overly complicated.

Back when I turned 16, a neighbor gave me his 79 Corolla so I would have a car... floor boards were gone. He pointed me to a local body shop & for $100 they riveted in some sheet metal from a spare hood.

So the floor support is not vital to the unibody? the rockers are solid and the tranny tub is perfect. just worried about the unibody failing and hitting the ground lol

Well, it may play a part in the strength of the unibody, but let's be honest here, this isn't a Ferrari.

Just cut out the crappy metal, hammer out a replacement plate, and weld the shiz out of it (plug welds & seam welds). Do you have a welder / welding skills?

Well what I got is an old flux cored 110v welder dont do bad far as tacking pretty ugly as far as a proper seam weld but I sure as hell dont care for under body....Like I said 16 gauge is what im thinkin for the pan and support. 1/8 for frame work.....Im a machinist by trade so the bolts in the rear sub frame Ill mill out the bolt pattern drop it in and weld it..... the dog legs are shot lil bit of tiger hair .. Also found 60 z's sitting down in a alabama guy quoted 700.00 for fenders doors and hood delivered. All im worried about is that frame firewall section but like you said f@#k it weld the **** out of it Body shop wanted 4800.00 to do the rust damages and to prime it. Can buy a mint z for that.
