S13-280zx parts.....

anyone know if there are any parts off a s13 240sx that might be intresting for my zx?... 240's motor is dead so no KA for me lol :icon_super:

some guys parting out one in my town

lifegrddude 08-24-2008 10:45 AM

Most people take the throttle body from the KA. Other than that, I don't think much else can be used without some kinda modding. A few have adapted the dashboard into their Z's, but those were the earlier S30 and S31 chassis.

280zx2by2 08-24-2008 03:27 PM

so what all needs to be done to the throttle body? if you know ill also look it up(thats for nismo to get off my ass ;p)

i was also thinking the seats might fit... they are black but id rather get 240sx seats covered then my lasyboy zx seats(jokeing i love the zx seats!!!)

Niku-Sama 08-24-2008 04:55 PM

the zx seats suck what are you talking about?

i doubt that the seats would fit but it wouldnt take much to make them fit, just measure the seat and make sure its not wider than what can fit in your car, would stuck to have seats too wide and not be able to close the door

yo bro i got some phat seats... to bad my doors dont close

measuring tape check*

he said i can get the seats for $60

good price?

lww 08-24-2008 06:58 PM

What year 240SX? I wouldn't give more than about $15 or $20 each for someone's stock used seats unless it was from a Z32 or a Porsche...

lifegrddude 08-24-2008 07:30 PM

I'll save you a search:
For the TB, it depends if the 240 has cruise control or not. If it doesn't have cruise, you just have to add a 1" spacer and bolt it up. If it has cruise, you're going to have to cut the shaft for the linkage, and then bolt up the linkage from the ZX onto it.

I wouldn't get the seats from an S13. They are the worst seats ever created. There's a reason most people in Japan would ditch them as soon as they can. They were nicknamed kidney busters because of how bad they were. If you don't mind a sore back, you can use those seats, but I don't recommend them.

280zx2by2 08-25-2008 01:55 PM

it is an SE so its got the cruise

so its easier to put the cruise TB on?

and i was just wondering if the 240sx seats are better than the zx seats... sat in one a year or so ago and cant remember if they were any good

wheres snw and his 240 knowledge when you need him?

Niku-Sama 08-25-2008 02:00 PM

$60 for the seats? **** no, my local "u" pick has a saying

$20 a pair, any pair we dont care.

no some times if the seatbelts are on them its $25, i got my rear bumper and the 2 forester seats i am working on for $45, theres another set of forester seats but it would cost a hell of a lot to ship em

280zx2by2 08-25-2008 02:13 PM

ok im saying screw the seats but i found this link

its a how to l28 to KA TB swap

good link should be kept some where

NismoPick 08-25-2008 02:16 PM

^^^ Meh... too much work. I got a 60MM TB from an SR20DE... just had to swap on the L28 linkage ball and WA-LA!

Niku-Sama 08-25-2008 03:17 PM

wheres the write up to change it to a cable instead of the shaft?
and also to get full benifit dont you have to bore out the opening of the intake?

YES. If you don't, you will loose power.
Dont' even bother though. A stock engine with a larger throttle will do nothing but give you a more sensative pedal

It's easier to bolt up the non cruise TB. The cruise TB is the one from the link, and it's a pain in the rear for the amount of work you have to do to mount it. The non-cruise just requires swapping on the 280zx linkage and you're done. It's similar to the SR TB swap that Nismo did.

Niku, yeah you have to bore out the intake to match, otherwise it's a pointless modification. Just stuff some rags in the intake, mark what you need to grind, and dremel away.

Edit: Bleach summed it up before I did. Ninja fast typing skills.

Niku-Sama 08-25-2008 03:24 PM

its not somthing i plan on doing any time soon if at all, i am just trying to get my car ready for the winter untill i get that GTI and get it going and then i am gonna work on the Z, its a car juggle

280zx2by2 08-26-2008 04:24 AM

if he sells the TB for cheap ill pick it up other wise sounds like alot of work for a slight power gain

but any power gain is better than none:D

Bleach 08-26-2008 09:18 AM

the factory throttle body has precision and control. That will do more for you than the SX throttle. Focus on your K&N intake and exhaust if you want to waste money for 4 extra horsepower. But that is just my opinion...

duowing 08-26-2008 10:58 AM

I originally was going to do the 60mm throttle body upgrade, but I've read so many forum threads amongst Zdriver, HybridZ, and Zcar that that say it's really not worth it. You have to widen the throttle opening on the manifold so you can fit this throttle body, then slightly modify the linkage. Now if you had a whole custom intake manifold that flows better then I'd say this may actually be a bit of a benefit. With the stock manifold it's a waste of time and money.

Bleach 08-26-2008 11:36 AM

you have bottlenecks on both sides of it. that is why.

Ported head, ported intake runners, longer duration cam, bored intake manifold, larger throttle body, larger AFM (or MAS upgrade), and higher flowing air filter. That will get more air into the engine at high rpm. Then you need proper fuel management.

280zx2by2 08-26-2008 02:58 PM

so theres no point unless im going to go bigger on everything else and i might get LESS due to a sort of turbulence effect of the larger TB?

well hell... no mods for me

yes keep it that way. Never modify your car :icon_super:

WildmaN 08-26-2008 08:53 PM

I am putting the 60mm throttle body..on my turbo conversion. Of course I will be running with a 300zx ECU...and MAF sensor with chopper wheel. Well you get the picture. That would make it worth..putting the 60mm TB on. Not a plain original N/A. But if you plan on doing something later. And the TB is cheap enough. Go ahead and get it. It can't hurt...and will be around...if you do some upgrades. ;)

Bleach 08-27-2008 08:48 AM

Lambo doors should be your next upgrade, 4by*

280zx2by2 08-27-2008 12:53 PM

lol comparing turbo and N/A is like comparing miley cirus and angolina jolie... wait bad example

60 mm on turbo anytime!!!!

Bleach 08-27-2008 01:31 PM

50mm throttle on a turbo for me! Hella Beast!
