I think I'd be worth it only if someone mounted in there dash and spliced and ran power wires to it when the car is on. Otherwise another reason for thieves to break into your car...Heads up is cool tho. I'd enjoy it.

Pretty cool. I like the smaller unit better anyway. $150 isn't so bad.

GPS has a slight delay though. Good for cruising speeds but probably not accurate white accelerating.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Indeed that is pretty cool... but I'm skeptical. The picture is obviously a photoshop render of it. I'd like to see how the actual projection onto the windshield looks. And... no speedo when you are in a tunnel or parking garage... I guess that's not very often. :D I would rather just fix the stock speedo (could only be: cog, cable, or speedometer).

This is for when you're going 85-150mph though Nizzzzmo!

Twitch Jan 30, 2009 10:02 AM

Well im thinking about getting one because 80mph just isnt enough and i dont want to stick a autometer in it and tear apart my dash. And the concept seems cool cause i could be wrong but im pretty sure i remember the early 240sx coupe models had the heads up display and it was nice for fast twisty roads bein able to stare straight ahead and drive

1st gen Altima (grand luxury model) had a heads up display too. :D

NismoPick Jan 30, 2009 11:05 AM

Indeed... My bro's 240sx had HUD. It was cool... but it was Nissan factory too. The 79 280zx has a 130mph speedo.

Twitch Jan 30, 2009 11:13 AM

if i found a 79 speedo would i be able to just put it in run to the current sensors and everything work normal or is there certain cables or anythimg i would need to do

The easiest way is to swap entire gauge clusters. But if you got one on ebay (like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsu...Q5fAccessories )

Then you'd need to take apart the cluster.

Why not just spend the same $125 and get a "REAL" GPS navigation system:

My GPS unit is nice. I got it for about $150. But in the "info" mode where it shows you the speed, the text is tiny. Not quite like that heads up display. If only I could make the MPH full screen.

skittle Jan 30, 2009 05:51 PM

i'm pretty sure the 79 had a 120 not a 130... lol

120 was the highest number... two more marks after 120... I'm pretty sure that marks 130. :D

Kilometers per hour, some crazy European thing that I think won't catch on.

Actually, that's a Canadian KPH cluster that I air brushed off the KPH/MPH label and the MPH numbers on the inner orange ring and had the speedo recalibrated to MPH. So, technically, it's a KPH speedo, but now it reads accurately as an MPH speedo.

Warren Mar 16, 2009 09:34 PM

I still like mine better.
