Please Help

I have a 1980 and the turning signals and hazard lights worked when I got the car then recently they stopped working for no reason. I have checked all fuses and checked any wires, I have been trying to fix it for 3 days now and I cant get them too work, and I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this or if it is a common problem and if anyone knows what to do

Check your flasher unit under the dash. It's a cylinder with 3 wires going to it. It's attached to the steering column via a bracket.

I put it a new flasher and it still wasn't working, so I have no idea what the problem is unless it's a short somewhere.

Have you checked your fuses? I was having trouble with some interior lights not working, then I found out it was a blown fuse along with a burned out bulb.

I checked all the fuses already and I even put in all new bulbs but it still didnt work. I don't know what else to try because I'm not very good with electrical systems.

If the emergency flasher switch is half way on or off, the turn signals won't work either. Check that, then pull off the plastic steering cover at the switches & check the wiring plugs.

The emergency switch sounds like it's working fine and I have already pulled off the plastic and checked the connecters and they seem to look fine. I think I'll just pull out the whole switch assembly and take it apart to see if I can mess around with it and see if it works.

The switch could be broken but I don't think that it should be causing the hazard lights to stop also. Im stumped, I think I might have to take it to the shop, even though I like to do most work myself.

Your hazard switch is what provides the juice to your flasher unit so if it's not working right then that could be your problem. Test for voltage at the flasher. The GY wire from the Hazard switch to the flasher should be seeing battery voltage. Also check for voltage at the L wire at the hazard switch.
