i found a t3 turbo in the salvage yard. but its oiled soaked all around!!! i dont think the oil is from the turbo oil lines but a leak from the head had been soaking it.

is it worth even trying to pull? its off a Z31. and being a Z31 owner i know the work i need to put in to pull it. im just worried since its been soaking in oil its going to be a bust after cleaning it up?

any inputs?

 

Pull the intake boot and check the wheel for damage & play. If the fins are clean, it doesn't wobble, and spins freely w/o noise, then it's probably ok. A professional turbocharger rebuild is $300 - $500.

Also, the Z31 turbocharger will probably be a bear to remove in the junk yard.
