oil pressure?

What's the stock oil pressure on the 280zx Turbo suppossed to be? My guage is out and Im going to get an autometer to replace it and my Hayne's manual doesnt say

those gauges rarely go bad. Its always the electronic sender unit that dies on the L28

ok, but still whats the stock oil pressure suppossed to be at?

well, the bars don't have numbers except for the 90 at the end.
At idle the needle should read about in the middle.
At anything at or above 2500rpm it should read 2/3 to 3/4 on the gauge. The bars aren't equal distances between each other so the middle does not really mean 45 psi...

hope that helps even though its not an exact answer

helps some, thanks

mine stays under 3/4 at idle and right over 3/4 at full boost, well from what i think full boost is, since the analog gauge swap the boost no worky.:wasted:

well...
boost doesn't have anything to do with where the oil pressure lies. It is based on the engine rpm, becuse that is actually how fast the oil pump is being spun. Then at a certain oil pressure there is a releif valve in the pump to hold pressure so it doesn't just keep getting higher and higher as you go up towards 6000 rpm. :D
you'd be at 200psi if there was no releif... maybe :p

yeah:paranoid: thats what i meant, but since the car's boosting you'd have to be around 3000+ rpm so thats why oil pressure would be rising along with the rpm's. And it'd blow before 200psi, or maybe not....i'll try.:wasted:
