new owner of a '79 280zx
 

Hi, I'm new to this forum. This is my first post on my first car. The problems I'm having are as follows. When the car starts, while it's running it seems to burn too much gas. Just replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs. It also looks to have a new distributor on it.

When running:
Idles rough
Smokes black
Smells like it's running really rich

Do a search on rebuilding your AFM. Check out www.xenons130.com for FSMs, etc. ...and welcome to the club!

After going through everything I thought it could have been, the AFM wasn't even connected. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!

Yeah....AFM not connected or working right will cause all sorts of problems. I know first-hand. lol Glad you got it figured out, and welcome.;)
