my rims

I just finished them, they took about 2 hours each, maybe a little less. I did one every saturday morning for 4 weeks. :icon_super:, a ton of elbow grease, steel wool/soap combo and a little black rustoleum paint :D

Maybe I should polish my Rota wheels made out of iron.

The steel wool didn't scratch much at all, I'm very pleased with the results. They are by no means perfect, but you can only notice defects if you look really closely at the rims (little pits etc, I didn't really care about them because thats hours upon hours).

I didn't even polish them, I just rubbed them with steel wool lol so I guess I could make them shine more :D

I didn't use clear coat either, every saturday I go over them for a couple minutes to keep them shiny. Last time, the clear turned green like in the before pic.

You actually should clearcoat them... Bare aluminum corrodes very quickly.

have you guys ever saw that mag/aluminun polish they advertise at drag races? if i could have remembered the name i would have bought some...

KingDatsun1 03-26-2009 09:07 AM

mothers or rolite?

there was also one that started with 1000 but I forget the rest.

^^ I was thinking about purchasing one of those, they are made from felt instead of the typical foam ones and would probably work well.

any opinions?
