So, I'm sitting there last night checking out stuff on the car, when I open the door, turn on the point lights, and for the first time in 4 years, my car speaks..."The lights are on"...in a sexy voice, then it starts skipping, making a sound like a trotting horse. Weird. So, does anyone have the lowdown on the voice system and what I can do to get it all back??

I have heard of this before, so I guess it is stock. I just don't know t much about it or why it kinda started working all of the sudden. That's the only thing I've heard so far, though...

This might be of help to you. I've actually been looking into retrofitting my '81 base model 2+2 with the talking lady - I hear 'she' has a sexy voice!

If I can't find an old module or something, I'll find a way to custom-build one. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Does anyone elses lady say hello when you start the car??? and goodbye when you turn it off?? I mean I've heard others, door ajar, lights are on.. But never hello and good bye on anyones.. :bling:

 

no, mine doesn't say hello. She says, "thanks for FINALLY fixing my transmission you lady Z owner!"

 

It figures it'd be a woman's voice, considering how much $ I've dumped into her! HAHA!! :roflmao:

 

Since when do they say Hello and Goodbye?? Mine only speaks when I am doing something wrong (No im not talking about my Girlfriend haha).

 

I recently purchased a 1983 280ZX 2+2 from a car auction (car had been rear ended), but was driveable. When I was driving it off I had the emergency break on, I heard the sexy female voice say the break was on. I haven't cked, but it says other sayings. I have an extra "talking lady" box & when I opened it there is a disk (like a record), so be careful when playing with it as you don't want to mess it up. There is another posting here explaining more about the box, check it out.

 

HI Carl; Yeah it is a stock thing. My '82 280zx has the same voice. It kind of tripped me out a while ago. I was like is my car talking to me? And she was saying lights are on! over and over again until I turned them off or closed the door.

 

Unfotunately, mine skips at the end of each message, so when someone gets outa the passenger door, I have to shut the car off then restart it to get the skipping to stop...
