My blower unit is malfunctioning and I got the shivers! HALP!

When I turn on my AC or heater the blower sometime will not work or it will work but at some point down the road it just shuts off. Its been a problem ever since I have gotten the car, just one of those things that slowly gets worse and worse and now it will almost never turn on. I know the heater (and AC for that matter) work because I can feel heat coming from the vents slightly.

Ground? Relay? Switch? Idk.....

Plez helppp.

Maybe your climate control switch is wearing out. I know mine doesn't work at all. But when I hooked my blower motor directly to my battery. It worked perfectly. So I need to get a toggle switch to run the a/c and heat. Hopefully you get it figured out. Good luck.

There's a fuse up under the dash right next to the blower...hell it may be ON the blower for all I remember. Make sure the connections are clean and the fuse is good.

^ I believe I changed it out, and still it didn't work. I am pretty sure my climate control switch is shot. Not sure if his is though.

When you say climate control switch are you revering to the blower fan speed switch? Because 81's didn't come with a climate control cabin temp sensor/switch.

No, just the manual control switch. That has the **** to adjust the speed of the fan. And the levers for hot and cold, and also vent.

Just realized something, the stock switch is a multiple resistance switch, how is wiring in a toggle switch going to affect that?

It will either be full blast or entirely off. Not variable like the pot.

I would be wiring the switch directly to the blower fan itself. Thus by passing the non working climate control switch. And it would be on full blast. Until I get around to finding another climate control switch. It would be better than nothing at all.

The blower and all that nonsense is dead on my Z, so I'm with you there.

I gotta figure out how to at least get the fan going and then how to get the heater going.
