My '82 is running better!

I decided to swap out AFM's once again. I got another one on e-bay for cheap. And put it on, yesterday. Wow what a difference, I actually have gained some power back. I had to adjust the idle screw, because the ECU was trying to adjust to the new one. And as soon as it did, I had to turn the TPS counterclockwise. So here soon, maybe later today. I will change the oil to the high mileage Castrol, and see if I can get a little more power back to #3. It is wishful thinking, but it seems my oil burning has slowed down, since I have started adding the high mileage oil, when he needed to be kept to the full mark. So I am going to change it all to that type of oil. And see what happens, it is worth a shot.:unibrow:

I am also going to recheck my timing again, and see if it needs to be resest. Now that my Z is running correctly, I might need to change it again. It doesn't hurt to look and see. Because I think he has been running wrong ever since, I put that other AFM in him. I think it is the wrong type for my engine. Maybe it came off another Z, like an older one.

have you ever heard of Lucas? we started using Lucas oil stabilizer in our trucks that have a high consumption rate and it seems to have slowed it down significantly and it supposed to add a lot more additives to your motor oil. I don't know if your motor is consuming the oil or not but its worth a try to put a stabilizer in it i think. Its about ten bucks a bottle or so which is a low cost to preserve your motor any how see what everyone else thinks.....

i use 20/50 in my car. That slows down the burning.

Yeah I have always used 20-50 in all my cars. Because of the hot climate here, it works great. I might check on that Lucas oil, thanks for the tip.

Yes, woo her somehow. Your car is still in primer so paint it up for cheep like someone on HybridZ did HERE. Its easy, cheep, multiple colors give you a broad choice, and if you decide to paint it for real you can take it off without it being a health issue unlike rustolium.

That is a good idea. But if she only likes me for my car. I am not interested in her. Not saying, I don't mind that they like my car. But I am not wasting money on a paintjob, that will be stripped, for bodywork and such. When I am ready to do the turbo swap. I have gotten compliments, on my Z being primered. The primer hides his flaws more. It is only temporary, but will change after the turbo swap.:unibrow:

my bro's g/f has a drag car, that lucas sponsers. it pretty good stuff that actually works. i thought it was snake oil, but it really works.

Well a little update on my Z. I figured I would put it here. I changed out the oil, and put Castrol 20-50 high mileage, with a Purolator filter. Wow my oil pressure has never been that high. And I also cleaned my o2 with my wire wheel, on my drill. And boy does he have some more get up and go! I am going to be surprised when I have a Z, with a rebuilt, or reman motor. My Z is pretty quick with bad compression, in one cylinder. I couldn't imagine a n/a fresh, or a turbo. That is going to be scary.
