Looking for Stereo Ideas
i been thinking about what kind of set up to go with in my new ride. can anyone post some pics of how you got yours set up. more interested in speaker and amp locations. I already know where the DVD and TV will go..
thanks |
If your amp is amall enough you can mount it under your seat. I'd put in a capacitor too if I were you. That way you electronics function properly. MSA has a speaker panel in stock that bolts in the very back of the hatch that points 6x9's right towards the front of the vehicle. Unfortunately it's also about $150. I have an ipod adapter underneath my driver seat and I routed the ipod plugin though the bottom of the center console into the cubby.

i been doing stereo install for years, my mind just keeps racing with all the different ideas. i love having a hatch it makes them endless in what people have done and still have room to go to the store..
|
Really, I hate trying to do a hatch for a stereo. You either consume the entire hatch area with a custom box or you end up compromising with odd angles and difficult harmonics because the speakers aren't in the optimal locations, sizing or enclosure.
I've seen subwoofer's modded into the spare tire carrier, crazy boxes in the middle of the hatch area, speakers mounted to the top of the "accessory" compartments behind the seats. I have seen a couple of interesting "foot-well" front speaker jobs, but nothing that didn't end up compromising the space. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do! |
i guess its a minor advantage to the 2+2 that it has 6 1/2" speakers in the pannels right behind the front seats leaves room for subs. i dont like where the speakers are in the 2 seater.
i've been thinkin though for up front because of the stupid middle and far right speaker set up you could get 2 sets of the rigid map pockets and flip one set over on the other and mabe cut the half of the top one off so you still have a pocket and door mount some speakers that way, it would give you the depth needed and i bet it would sound pretty good if you used a baffle and its basicly in a little box and it wont stick out any further into the car to get in the way, just as far as the map pocket stick out and mine arent in the way |
Well this is my thoughts so far, 6 1/2 in Mid Tweeter combo in doors, 7in Mid Tweet combo behind the seats in factory location and 3 8in sub in front of the strut towers that would be right behind the seat and still leave alot of space in the back for groceries and t tops. i would only lose the storage bins, who cares, thats where the amps will be mounted as well thinking some plexiglass lids where the bins are now and 2 amp racks to see the amps and cap
|
i have a box thats big enough for 2 10s on the top (my future plans) and i was thinking of stashing the amp in the spare tire storage space(cause nobody really gets flat tires these days)
but mine is a 2+2... http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...x/DSCN0275.jpg |

You don't need a heater in Arizona? :)
If you put a backing plate to separate the forward soundwaves from the rear, those lower speakers will be much louder. |
it gets cold, but this is my work car mostly so not a long drive, i plan on getting a personal heater to plug in..LOL
i will make an enclosure when i get the speakers i really want. those were laying around so i came up with that real quick |

I just used tin snips and the template that came with my 6x9s and cut out the area where the stock speakers are. They fit great and the sound isn't really compromised form being behind the seats.

are all you guys lighters green? cause this guy on hybrid said mine was from a 510 cause it was yellow/orange but i didnt really acnoledge it...
yellow/orange goes with the interior lights so im thinking that the green comes from a 510 or 200sx |
That IS grass roots baby! ;) |
Hey I haven't posted in a while but I'd figure I would show my setup.
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...81_33_full.jpg The only difference is I have the amp installed, and have black seats. Some people would say this is asking to get robbed but w/e everything was cheep as hell anyways. |
ya...this was temp for the speakers in front. zip ties and duct tape can fix anything
|
I was thinking of taking out the stereo, ash try, and cigarette lighter and putting this in
Hook it up to a carputer Of course, would be nice if you have a mega squirt installed I am just dreaming of course.... something like that would require that I have a job....... Soon unfortunately I will finish school and have to get me a job..... :022: |
Right now I have a 2+2 with no rear seats. I don't care about passengers soo much. I was thinking about installing the amp, and 6x9's I have in the rear where the rear seat bottom used to be, and build some 1/2 MDF into a place for them to sit. Then carpet it all to be a flat flush surface in the rear. I was not sure what I wanted to do with my 2 12" speakers in the sealed box I made in the rear.
I prefer componant speakers. I will mount the tweeters from my polks in the dash on top, and then build some custom fiberglass enclosures on the doors for the speakers. They are in there now, but look like poo, and I have no interior door panels. I like what CraigS did. Was that a 2+2? That's pretty much what I was thinking. |
