looking for advice...

Hay. I own an '82 zx. I bought it in about july of last year, and it did me good till about November. The 3speed automatic went out, so I decided I wanted a manual. I didn't know that the autos were rare at the time.
So I bought an '83 turbo five speed from the local junk yard, stripped it, and did the conversion. I even dropped the turbo motor into my car just for the turbo.
It didn't run for s#@t.
But the motor ran in the '83 car. I fired it up myself and rapped the turbo up to make sure! What I'm wondering is if anyone knows about the computers in the 2 cars and maybe tell me that my computer won't run the turbo engine?
No matter anyway. I'm about to stick the original motor back into the car. just so it will run...

Because of the turbo, air flow and fuel ratios are going to different. Swapping a n/a and a turbo requires you to switch computers. I had a 83 turbo rolling and that was very fun to drive. I now have a 81 n/a (no rust compared to my 83) and I plan on swapping motors. If you have the time, I would swap computers.

Woah, the turbo engine is going to need different timing and fuel, you should be supprised you didn't blow it up. You will need the computer and EFI portion of the harness (very small), the number of connectors is different on the turbo computer.

well no matter, anyway. I've already got the '82 /na back on the tranny and its ready to go back in... oh, well. what I really want to do is a mazda rotary engine swap... what do you suppose the chances are that I fried the '82 computer?
