lifers and back again

i ajusted my lifters to night but i dont think i did it right .. becuase i have more tick then when i started.it just seems to be one or two vales the back of the head mabe vales 9 10 11 or 12 i dont know .. i cant fig it out {00.10} for intake and {00.12} for ex.. when i turn my motor over to top dead... #one cam lob is not faceing up and down its more to the left.. so i ajusted all the valves in order for that side and when i got to the last valve the lob was in the downward seting so that ajusting it wasnt going to happen .so i turned the cam a little and ajusted it and then went on to the other set.. when i got to the last one on that side, it did the same thing... hmmm,, i hate vales ...what am i doing wrong mabe i just need to pull it all apart and fix my oil leak at the bottom of my oil pump that way i could reset the cam gear to #3 and see if i get more low end go... has any one out there tryed all three setting what does #1 feel like top end maddness??? if #2 has this much top end .. then i wonder what #1 will do i think #3 will make my auto feelless guttless off the start ...if irun her hard up to 80mph and let of the gas i get back fire loud ones intell i get to 55mhp if i keep my foot on the gas at 80mph and slowly let her get to 55mph then i get alot less back fire whats up with that???
well **** it look like a book this time sorry ...peace

i think one should just get a chiltons manual and study it.. thats what i have been doing lately and i am learning more and more.. my cam gear is at #2 and she perforrms like a bat outta hell.. but now im goin thru and fixing leaks ..and any other various here n there problems... and if you use the auto by going from 1-2-Drive.. you can at least control when YOU want to move up a gear.. and i can layy down that rubber with just an auto...

i can only burn them in the rain crazy *** kick outs but iam working on it in the dry ..after i did the lash this last time today... it felt like i had a lot less shutter off the start my header really luts it out to fast.. iam hoping with the fuel rail , injectors and regulator will fix that low end shutter... its like when you gas it hard she lags and as she gets to 2800rpm i feel all the power kick in puting me back in the seat...i think that with a little more fuel she will jump off the start faster..she just gulps air and pushes it out so fast off the start that it bogs her down everyone out there wants a header but if you put one on your going to lose some intell you $billed$ it back up.... whats the deal with cuttin your intake center ,out i have see a few pics of this and want to know how hard it would be and what tool would be the best for this job..i have posted a pick it ..i really think that i would cool my header down ALOT...

I never had any trouble with my header on my '81. Even though he is wrecked, he will fly like nobody's business down the road!

i used to not be able to peel out.. until i increased the boost..
all i did was drill off the top of my POV and use a 1 1/4 * 5/16 fender washer and i used 3 to allow the higher level of boost.. and then i shortened the length of the wastegate actuator arm(by bending it slightly..) and for every 1/16" it is shortened it raises the boost .5 lb and it increases .1 evry 1/16" thereafter so 5/16" shorter = ~ 6.3 making it a total of ~ 12 lbs of boost.. that is about the max you should go without an intercooler.. they say 15.. but thats cuttin alil too close and My Z is all i got.... until i get another... i would also invest in a boost controller..

Ya'll however are running N/A so fuel upgrades will help.. and keeping the timing on the dot is alwayz best.. as well as keeping the valves adjusted properly..

i would also begin investing into a cam and maybe shave the heads to increase the compression ratios.. also.. try to make your exhaust flow as good as possible.. if you cant push out what you pull in.. it really hurts performance..

The older intake manifolds on the 280Z had the runners with no webbing between them.
