Inflating the Spare Tire on an 83

What would you use to inflate the spare tire on an 83ZX. The rubber still looks good, but I don't know about the stuff in the Datsun can that is supposed to be used to inflate it.

Its just compressed air I think. I wouldn't know, all my spares where so rusty I was scared to even use them.

That can is just compressed air. You could fill it at any service station with a tire pump. I'd be careful. That thing is old and could burst on you. Mine looks brand new and I'd be afraid to fill it, let alone use it.

You can refill them? I might have to go look at my can again.

I just carry a cheap 12v compresser that plugs in the cig. lighter. I'd be cautious driving on the old spare, just only to limp it home.

I wouldnt be so sure that its just compressed air in there, my can is all swooshy and stuff when you shake it, like theres liquid or something in there.

I'm talking about the tire, not the can...

Best tire inflator I've ever owned, by Slime, fills my tires from nothing to operating pressure in about 3 to 4 minutes, I suggest getting one. Less that $30.

to get back to the original point, if you have never used it and if its in relatively good condition, then by all means do, just dont go over 40 or something and get the tire replaced right away, on the other hand if the wheel is all rusty and the tire rubber is cracked, then i wouldn't trust it. just wait for the tow truck.
