my 280zx won't hold above 3000rpm

Hi all,
I just picked up a 82 280zx 2+2, auto. It ran fine as I drove it home for over an hour ride. Next day I washed the engine bay. I tried to avoid the distributor, alternator, etc. I idled it for an hour after to let it dry. I took it on the road later that day and power dropped above 2000-3000 RPM. When I park and rev up to 3000 RPM, power drops and bobbing back and fourth. Do you guys have any ideas? I thought it was lack of fuel, but still the same after replaced the fuel filter. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to ZDriver!

And yup... classic mistake. Unplug TPS connector, blow dry, plug back in. Also remove distributor cap and blow dry. Install and drive happy.

Thank you for your add, NismoPick.
I will try what you have suggested. Also, The speedometer was working fine the day I drove it home. At the same time I was encountered the above problem, I noticed the speedometer wasn't working. This must be something non related ? I think the car has cable to the speedo, but does it have a speed sensor that I may wetted? Thanks so much!

Well, It is running great! Thanks to NismoPick! I found out it was a puddle of water in the plug..
What do you drive NismoPick?

Nice. Love the easy fixes.
I have an 81 2+2 that I've done a bit of work to. Turbo swap with lots of goodies.

That is funny. I just picked up an 82 280zx 2+2. It is in rough shape as far as interior. Engine has 114K. I always wanted one as I had a 280zx coupe a long time ago. I like the look of a 2+2 much better as it is longer. Always a Z fan. I also have a Z31 and a Z33.
I like your engine bay. Hopefully mine can look like that sometime, I think I am done with washing the engine
