Ignition problem

So after fixing the fuel pump my car still wont turn over. So far ive check to see if fuel is getting to the engine which it is, check the fuel injectors to see if they worked, checked for spark, and cylinders for compression and any fuel in them. All of these check out and im not sure what else to look for. Any help will be appreciated

If it is truly getting spark and fuel, then it's either flooded, or the timing is too far off.

When trying to start without success you can easily inject enough unburned fuel to effectively flood the engine (using old carburetor terminology). this then prevents you from starting the engine normally. If you have checked everything and still no luck try this. disconnect a wire from the fuel pump so it won't pump (on a z31 pull the fuse). you need a fully charged good battery for this. hold the gas pedal to the floor and give it a long crank. you may or may not get a few pops. Do it again. it may run for a few seconds. do it again. When you no longer get any action reactivate the fuel pump and try a normal start.

Mine is a 280zx so could I still do that. Also there is bad gas in the car and when I asked my auto teacher he said it should still run but itll sound ugly. Could the gas be a problem?

"Bad gas" is a pretty generic description.

Bad as in 20 years old?
Bad as in it's turned into molasses?
Bad as in it's got water in it?

Yes, "bad gas" can keep a car from starting. But before we jump to conclusions, do some tests.

Its about 10-15 year old I believe. Id change out the gas but the shop ive been working at hasnt had any new fuel so ive been dealing with what i got. However i did add some newer fuel in November so its not all complete bad fuel

Light a match and if it burns violently you should be OK....

Seriously though.... would you try to run your lawn mower with 10-15 year old gas? Drain the tank and make sure the lines are clean and change the fuel filter.

Gas has a true shelf life of roughly 6 months. After that its burn properties go way down hill. In the old rx7's they needed fresh gas to start let alone run decently. I'd drain it and refill before clogging everything up. Change your fuel filter and check the timing. It'll start, it's a Datsun

Ya I already knew I needed to put fresh gas in and drain the old stuff out only thing is the shop ive been working at has no gas

I don't get what that means...

You can't borrow / buy a 5gal gas can, go to a gas station, fill it up, and dump it in your tank?
