how do i adjust the speedo mileage?

Any ideas how i can roll forward or backward the speedo's mileage (in my case Kilometers)? There are some white platic gears at the top which spins the number, but they're interlocked with each other so if i spin one gear it moves the next gear which is not efficient to change the mileage. Any ideas how i can change the numbers i want? I don't want to break it by doing something wrong since i just bought it to replace my broken one. Thanks if someone can help.

Would it be okay to just leave the mileage as is on the replacement speedo? or does it have to match the broken speedo's mileage?

nevermind

Nevermind - i found out my answer. I'm not suppose to change the mileage on the replacement speedo - just record the old mileage and the new one.

yeah dude dont screw with it i heard once you turn that thing once it will never align again....lol try getting a reversable drill and running it on the back...

since it is only 5 digits, its easy to just spin the back and roll over the milage to where you need it to be. You might as well match it to your old milage. If it was six digits it would take a while to get over a million miles.

I didn't think it went in reverse...

did you know that its illegal to reset the mileage on your spedometer, thats federal offense man.

Who said anything about resetting? I said roll it around and then back up to match the milage of the speedometer you're taking out. Maybe it is illegal to move the odometer numbers, but you're just making the new speedometer match the old one so the miles read correctly for the car.
