How difficult is it to do front main seal on '79?

Thinking about buying a '79 N/A, needs front main seal and crank pulley bolt. Reason for this is because when he put new pulley on he didnt tighten the bolts down enough so when he hammered on it, it came apart. Looking to see how hard it would be to replace the seal.

If the pulley is already off its a breeze, pop the old seal out press the new one in and put the pulley back on the TQ the bolt to about 110ft lbs. Don't forget the woodruff key!

Wait, the crank pulley came apart? Like came off the crank? If so, it probably eff'd up the key groove... if the crank pulley is off, make sure the key groove edges are straight... otherwise it's never going to sit tight again.

with the engine still assembled, how do you rip it off? Isn't the crank in the way? (fyi i have never seen an L28 in person so I'm going by standard IC engine conventions) to my knowledge, the seal goes around the crank between that and the block. Ive included a picture, I think its the ring right below the water pump. Please let me know what you think
