Arrow Honestly Guys, I'm Not Blond, but...

At the DIY car wash yesterday, I read "Engine Degreaser", and thought "What a great idea"... Not! or Duh!

I drove back home 5-miles with the emergency lights on, 5-20 mph, and the car going chug, chug, gulp, choke... plus minor whiplash to myself. Obviously, something got a little too wet.

Today I only started up the car; it's still in the same sad condition. Putting the gas to the floor (parked), the car will reach a max of 2500 rpm and then zero out sounding like it's gasping for it's last breadth. OM, I killed my Z!

I need to be driving again Saturday, so what should this minimally mechanically inclined girl do to compensate for this brilliant move?

Thx! LT

<<RESOLVED>>

One answer not given until the end... "do nothing".

Thankful for the sunny So Cal weather, the car sat untouched for 2-days. I went out to attempt my DIY with your given instructions praying I would cause no further harm. The car started up, the rpm's reved higher and higher with no effort, the sound I knew just days before.

A big TY to everyone who gave their time to help me and my Z. I wish the same luck to all of you !

Common Z problem after washing the engine bay.

Step 1: Disconnect the TPS plug, blow dry, reconnect.

Step 2: Remove distributor cap, blow dry, re-install.

Step 3: Start car & drive happy.

you guys scare her off? It's been a week!

I had the same thing happen to me (similar) when i did it. My TPS was soaked and needed to be dried out- then my car was happy.

OP - did you get the car running ok?

well most people ask a question, get an answer, fix their car, and never return
