Holy crap!!

I got to drive my 280zx for the first time today, and I'm in love with the car! I wish I got the title four years ago when I got the car. It is so freakin awesome!! I'm stoked that I actually got to drive it finally. You guys made made me want to drive it more and more each day I read through this forum. This thing is in a league of it's own compared to my 300zx. I like it a ton better. about what does a stock 280zx non turbo, 5 speed, non turbo run in the 0-60 and the quarter mile? I didn't think this car was going to be that badass. Also does anyone have a 120 mph 280zx speedometer they want to sell? One more thing, if I switch the speedometer what all do i have to do for the swap?

the 0-60 isnt that good from a standing start, but go from a rolling start at about 20, then just floor it, scared the **** outa me when i first did it. as for the speedo, autometer makes one that goes to 160, plus i believer there is a electronic speedo cog.

If you switch to the 120MPH speedo, just plug it in, and your set...

Yeah I put the 120 speedo in. There were a couple things different on it but it was pretty much a direct swap on my 81. I think it was just a couple wires that hooked up different. Nothing that cant be figured out by just comparing the two.

Cruse Control wires are diff, and it's calibrated for the 3.7:1 differential. Dats it!

I owned a Canada version 280zx once... Had trippy gauges! Sweet metric system!

Thats probably what it was. The speed sensor for the cruise control. Oh well, I didn't have cruise control anyways. It's been so long since I did it though. I just remember that it didn't just plug right in.

1/4 mile

is your car a 5-speed or an automatic? The 1/4 miles times differ from time to time on the driveline you have. at least i think thats right???

Well bud, I have a 5 speed, but also remember...only about 50% of the ride is the car. The other 50% is the driver and his ability to handle the vehicle.

It doesn't say anything about quarter mile times.

Oh yeah, I removed the 1/4 mile times due to too many conflicting times. On paper these cars are quite slow through the 1/4. Of course when you're actually out driving them it's another story. They feel a little quicker than they are. I think it has a lot to do with the rear end squat and what not From a rolling start they get up pretty quick. The turbo is a much better option if it's 1/4 mile times you're after. So if you want to BENCH race your ZX against another car than chances are it's going to lose it's fair share. 0-60 was crap too.
