Angry help think i broke something

well was happy as hell got her running sounded fine then i heard a tapping then a clunking, sounds like it went from the top to the bottom of engine, and around number 6 to number 3.if its bad , should i rebuild whole thing or just replace what broke.i think its a lifter, but the sound moved from top to bottom. if its a rebuild what do i need to do it right. any help would be nice ,and thanks.new to working on cars though

Yeah, it won't be a lifter because our cars don't have them!

We have rockers! Anyway, the only thing I can think of would be as hoov mentions and that's a dropped valve, but it should have made a LOT more noise than what I think you described.

You should really do a compression test before anything. That will indicate how serious the problem is. Rebuilds are the way to go but sometimes a donor engine will get you by better. Especially if it is or was another persons unfinished project.
