Gas pump/gauge

So i got my fuel pump changed, and before they did it the gas gauge worked fine. AFTER they changed it, it will not show fully filled and it doesn't read right as I use gas...its like the top gauge is moved to the left an 1/8th of a tank, but it still bounces around more than it did.

Are those two events possibly related and if so, how?

Josh

THANKS.

Take it back to them & tell them to fix it.

The fuel pump is external... the gauge float is internal. If all they did was change the pump, the gauge should still work the same as it did before.

Thats what they said, and I just got some body work done, so i'm too poor to risk it.

Is there any plugs they could have forgotten to plug back in that would do that sort of thing (shorting out or something)

Josh

That's what who said? Too poor to risk what?

That the fuel pump is external, and that the fuel gauge sensor is internal, and they should not have interfered with each other.

They will charge me a bunch if its something they did not do. (thats the risk).

So check the wiring. I would assume you have a Haynes manual? If not you can download the FSM from www.xenonS130.com/reference.

There's a plug in the hatch area by the right strut tower (gotta pull up the carpet & padding). You can also get to the main harness for the float by removing the round plate.

Okay I will try those two things, thanks!
