differential yoke...
differential yoke...
Hey guys,
right now I'm trying to replace one of the rear axle halfshafts on my '79 280ZX. I was wondering if anyone knows which models have the same differential yoke (connecting the diff. to the the u-joint on the end of the halfshaft) as my '79? I had to cut one of the ears on the yoke to remove the bolt holding the halfshaft on. I really didnt want to cut it, but I had to. Anyways, now I cant find a yoke for my car. So if anyone knows if the yokes on the 300ZX's with an R180 diff. are the same, or where I can get a new yoke please let me know. Thanks!

maybe it helps
well on the R180 diff the ujoint yoke is connected to a spline that goes into the differential. It is all one unit and must be replaced as one. Your best bet would be to pull one from a junk yard car. Just take apart the spider assembly of the ujoint next to the differential. Unscrew that little bolt in the middle of the yoke that goes into the diff. and pull out the whole thing. That should be all and i hope it helps ! I do believe a junk yard or one of the people parting out zx's on this site would be about the only way to get that part (or at least the cheapest). At least thats how I would go aobut it. Good luck

thanks for the info
I ended up finding a guy in Florida that had a yoke I could use. He pulled it off a halfshaft he had and once I got it I just took my axle and yoke to a shop and they assembled it for me. I went ahead and replaced the u-joints too. She's running really well now! Thanks again for the info.
