Cylinder PSI

Today with Captkens help. i pressure tested my engine. this is what i got

1. 191
2. 189
3. 186
4. 185
5. 191
6. 188

about 10lbs less per cylinder with throttle closed.
engine warm.

128 low factory std. 171.

what you say about them?

skittle 01-16-2007 07:20 PM

thats great

FubarI33t 01-16-2007 07:27 PM

so the oil leak must be from the valves.

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 08:11 PM

obviously!!!!

FubarI33t 01-16-2007 08:14 PM

they seem to be much higher then the standard. Why do you think this is?

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 08:15 PM

maybe you got the turbo engine psi not the NA psi readings

FubarI33t 01-16-2007 08:18 PM

lol. Snow. Turbo's are Low comp's :) not higher. and these tests are perfromed with spark plugs out. and engine off.

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 08:20 PM

ummm... i know... im saying, mayve your numbers you looked up are for turbo cars... and your is an NA car....

FubarI33t 01-16-2007 08:24 PM

well. if that's the case. then the turbo readings done on the car out back of Captkens house are way to low. an he needs to rebuild his engine. But accrording to the FSM. that 128 low factory std. 171. are Stock N/A F54 flat tops.

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 08:36 PM

whats captkens readings?

captken 01-16-2007 08:45 PM

compression test

my readings were: a low of 138 lbs. to a high of 141 lbs.

Turbo car
The standard is 142 lbs.
The minimun is 100 lbs.

N/A car
The standard is 171 lbs.
The minimum is 128 lbs.

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 08:46 PM

hmmm.... ic ic....

SAYS YOU!!!!

captken 01-16-2007 09:17 PM

fsm

comes from fsm. page ma-12.

The only thing we didn't do was to unplug the injector connectors and cold start valve, according to the manuel.

fubar is a witness!!:paranoid:

snwbrderphat540 01-16-2007 09:27 PM

cheaters....

FubarI33t 01-17-2007 07:32 AM

i had key in the POS just to let the starter have power. So injector's never even fired a shot. and there is not cold start. So you can try to unplug it all day. and you'll never find it

Bleach 01-17-2007 08:04 AM

I got readings of 177-179 on all six at 199,000 miles on my NA engine.

You've got the later engine, higher compression, and maybe at one point someone did some head work and had the head shaved a little. or you have good rings, good seal on the valves, and some nice even carbon buildup in each cylinder. :D

wgc_3 01-17-2007 11:19 AM

When I did mine a few months ago mine were all around 90 :(

snwbrderphat540 01-17-2007 11:35 AM

thats... low

FubarI33t 01-17-2007 12:23 PM

thats Way to low. You need to fix that

wgc_3 01-17-2007 10:01 PM

I have been fixing it, this was the fix!

Out with the old!

snwbrderphat540 01-18-2007 12:45 PM

you sure it was just the head? not the rings? or walls?

duowing 01-18-2007 02:07 PM

That sounds like pretty good compression. When I compression tested my 83' Turbo engine I got 140-141 across all 6 cylinders. Needless to say a 90k mile engine with perfect compression. I was pretty happy with that.

wgc_3 01-19-2007 07:12 AM

Well the bottom end was rebuild, for some odd reason they never rebuild the top end. Am I sure? No, but I guess we'll find out!

NismoPick 01-19-2007 07:37 AM

^^^ Wow dude... you did all that w/ the hood on? :paranoid:

wgc_3 01-19-2007 10:46 AM

Yeah, you've been walking me through most of it! :)
