clutch bleeding..

im gonna put my tranny in and bleed the clutch ....is this how to do it....?

....get all that assembled....
get a hose n jar of brake fluid
put the hose on the nipple and the jar of fluid
top off the master cyl with fluid - close cap
tell a freind to push the pedal to the floor
loosen the nipple let air come out
tighten and tell friend to let up slowly
and repeat till all air is out.......and afcourse watch the fluid level..

is that pretty much it?
will it bleed the system out good? both slave and master cyl's?

like my system is empty now since i changed my slave cyl and let all the fluid out, is there a way to fill the lines up a little bit so i dont have to bleed so much i heard your not suppose to do it more than 5-6 times..?

Bleeding Clutch Slave Cylinder

Yes, you basically bleed the clutch like your brake cylinders.

You can pump and bleed as many times as you want. The only reason I can think of that you don't want to do it more than 5 or 6 times, if you run out of fluid in the Clutch Master Cylinder, and start sucking air into the system. As long as you keep the reservoir full of fluid, you can pump and bleed as long as you want.

Sorry, can't think of a way to pre-fill the system or hose for you. I usually work on my cars alone, and any brake/clutch bleeding I end up finding someone to pump the pedal. Make sure after pumping, that your assistant holds the pedal down, until you tighten the bleed screw, so you won't suck air back up into the system.

Time to Rip!

Sounds like your ready to test it out!

My 76 is really light on the clutch, doesn't take much pressure to release the clutch. Or maybe its the 72 thats really light. I upgraded the 72 to a later 76 - 78 Z clutch slave cylinder.

Anyway! hook her up on the pavement, and avoid those tickets!
