These are the rims that came with my zx but I havn't a clue what they are, I dont think they're stock but I havn't been a z guy for very long. I'd also appreciate any tips you guys might have on how to clean them up and get them looking good again.

They look like a weird version off Minilites (dozens of companies have made them). As for clean-up, I remember reading an article on it once and I think they used some sort of acid to clean them first, polished the rim, and then masked it off and bead blasted the spokes to keep that casted look, but don't take my word for it.

I think they are Z wheels. But from a '70's Z. Because I have mostly seen them on original looking 240's, 260's, and 280z'. As for polishing and cleaning them up. I am not sure, let me know where I can polish mine. Or have them polished.

 

That's what I thought when I first saw them, must be why I like them soo much.

 

Oh yeah, I've loved the minilites for years since I first saw them on early '70's Trans Am cars and MG's and would love to have a really wide set on my Z. A friend picked up an '85 Supra (another of my favorite cars) yesterday with factory aluminum wheels and I'd love to have them on my Z if only the bolt circle was the same; I did manage to talk him out of the tires, so hopefully I'll have the 225's on a set of polished 6 spoke Z wheels on my car soon.

and if you guys are seeing the same design on the center cap as I am, that means the rims are Shelby! I found one on ebay that look very similar also, you can see that one in my album through the link.

From what others have told me there should be a identifier should be casted into the inside of the rim, you can kind of see it in one of the pics of the rim from ebay. I guess I need to pull them rims off!

btw: how do you attach thumbnails?

 

They are just a plain ol' everyday, nothin' special Panasport wheel from the 70's... MSA sells 'em

Yeah, they don't seem to have much to any curvature to the spokes from what I can tell like the panasports do. They are 14's right?

 

I swear mini coopers had the same style wheel back in the day...just a thought.

That's what I'm talking about! DuckyZ My brother and I have been looking for those rims everywhere! From what we have been told they are only available in Japan and were found on the top of the line 200ZR. I would love to have a set of rims like that on my 84 Turbo! Let me know when you buy some I need to get a JDM friend that can translate for me. Mabey He/She could find a set on the Japanese E-Bay!
