beat a skyline today

there was this guy in a skyline i waved at today. so he decided to follow me closely up some corners, so i gave him a run for his money, he tried hard and just about looped his 89-90 skyline turbo trying to keep up. it was funny talking to him after at a light cause you dont have to yell across the car. he said he was trying to at least catch me on a straight but couldnt, he wanted to know what i had done to my car and i told him "everything" he assumed turbo and when i said n/a he just about crapped himself. now he says he needs more power. silly kid. he had a fart can and more boost from the turbo, you figure he wouldve been able to keep up. oh well, another one bits the dust.

SpeciallySpiked 04-15-2006 10:32 PM

maybe he doens't know how to shift out of first

haha just kidding, that's pretty sweet though - i've only seen those cars at car shows so nicely done :)

jfairladyz 04-15-2006 11:35 PM

That kid should be thanking you. It will now be 10 times easier for him to squeeze his once fat (and now humbled) head through door ways now that you've put him in his place ;) Z's rock :icon_super:

SHADY280 04-16-2006 12:17 PM

oh he can shift, he even admitted to not keeping up. after all he almost lost his precious car trying. hehehehe

nismo619 04-16-2006 01:09 PM

i did some research and the nisan skyline was discontinued from 1973 to 1989 why ? i think nissan had a better idea i belive it was called ( 240z ) then 260z , 280z and my favorite 280zx... the engine was the base model for the skyline i do belive the inline 6 turbo charged... after giving it long thought and careful words i can say that the 280zx turbo was the insperation nissan needed for the current models of NISSAN SKYLINE RB26dett engine compared to the LE28ET how did i get this information ? www.motorex.com they import skylines and make then leagal hear in USA.. i belive in my heart that the 280zx turbo was the proto type nissan skyline of its day =-)
love live the z !~!!!

SHADY280 04-16-2006 01:14 PM

my buddy imports skylines here in my town, his sole buisness is skylines, theres like 10 in town alone here. the skyline i raced was on imported by him. hell be ticked when i tell him. he brings over like 5 a month. they only cost about 12000 cdn for a full load turbo one. i can get the same one for 8000. i considered, but i got enough projects.

nismo619 04-16-2006 01:18 PM

i checked out the specs on the r-32 skyline that u must of raced because it was the only one that i belive could of keep up with u the r-33 and the r34 would of tooken u from the first 10 seconds.. only thing is the r-32 was the base model plus i do belive it might of been driving by some kid ?

Skully 04-16-2006 01:22 PM

yeah theres a few in town here too some guy is importing...i dont trust the guy tho i was looking to buy a 300 from him..but eeh...
lots 300zx's now wow, im glad i have a 280zx STILL RARE!

SHADY280 04-16-2006 01:23 PM

in canada we can only get the r32 model with the 2.4 (i think) but it was turbo, and he could drive alright, he races the local drags.

SHADY280 04-16-2006 01:26 PM

keeping up with a r34 would be just about impossible in my car, its quick, but not like that.

That motorex website is all in a Euro Language... did I miss something??? Maybe you need a better Swedish translator :D

The Skyline was first started in 1955 by PRINCE... then adopted by Nissan in 1972. There wasn't any discontinuity through the 70's... as Nissan produced the Skyline C110 from 1972 - 1977.

Here's a REAL history on the Skyline:

SHADY280 04-16-2006 01:34 PM

stick it to him nismo vs nismo.

duowing 04-16-2006 01:40 PM

As far as I'm aware, I thought Motorex got shut down? Anyway the one thing is, when it comes to track and stuff the GT-R isn't as fantastic. There was a video of two guys doing a downhill battle it was an R34 vs. Keiichi Tsuchiya's AE86. Tsuchiya won out pretty easy. The problem with the skylines are the fact that they have massive weight.

jfairladyz 04-16-2006 01:51 PM

Nismo619, you misread your information. It wasn't the Skyline that was discontinued. It was the GT-R model of the Skyline that was discontinued during those years. It was reintroduced in 89 with the R32.

RodMoyes 04-16-2006 04:34 PM

Everyone forgot to mention the fact that not only is Nismo619 Wrong as usual... but Motorex is currently shut down and the owner is in jail...

Rod.

SHADY280 04-16-2006 08:35 PM

ive given up trying to correct or even mention stuff, not worth my time if i can even read it, but you gotta admit hes getting better, and still loves z's

lifegrddude 04-16-2006 11:59 PM

Lol, we all live and learn right? :D Anyway, yeah I miss the older Skylines. I had a soccer teammate in high school who owned a DR30 Skyline with the FJ20 turbo motor and he did quite a few mods to it. It was a pretty quick car, capable of keeping up with another buddy's stock R32 GT-R. Course that all changed when the R32 received a T-78 and the DR30 got smashed by a drunk. Another one of my friends from the homeland has a DR31 that he modified a bunch since he bought it. It went from an n/a RB20de -> RB20det -> RB26dett. It's one of the nicest DR31s that I've ever seen.

Here's a link to his car: http://velocity.isfaster.com/v4/okin...aro/index.html

The closest thing I could find that was similar to my friend's DR30 was this page:http://www.dr30.20m.com/photo.html The bottom Skyline was more like his since it was the later "iron mask" front DR30, and my friend's was a white 4 door, not a 2 door. Man those were fun times...

280gty 04-17-2006 07:24 AM

...its hard for me to take streetracing at face value cause most used cars are so beat up underneath that they don't even perform to its stock capabilities even with mods and thats assuming that those mods are done properly for optimum performance.

It must be fun to beat someone, tho...But I'm a baaaad driver so I'll always be staring at someone else's taillights no matter what.

It is fun, but here's the reality...

SHADY280 04-17-2006 08:07 AM

the skyline the guy had was a little newer than those links, it wasnt so boxy. and i know why streetracing is crock thread.

Carl's Z 04-17-2006 09:01 AM
