Auto climate control
 

I have a 90% restored 83 280ZX with 79,000 S. Tx. miles on it. The car is beautiful and super clean throughout. The auto temp control stopped blowing any air whatsoever. I have checked fuses, replaced vaccuum lines,etc. Where should I go next??? Can someone give me some idea? RAM

Unfortunately the ACC is very touchy. There's about 20 vacuum lines under the dash that go from the main sliders to all the ports. Did you replace each one?

Touchy LOL if you find an aswer let me know I am about to pull mine off, I am sick and tire of dealing with it .:022:

Try replacing the blower motor relay. It's easily removed from the bottom of the blower. My auto air would only work on cold days below 40 degrees until I swapped out the relay.

I have a replacement control unit and was going to replace it with all the under dash lines last. I replaced all under hood lines first. Thanks for your help. RAM

There's only 2 vac lines under the hood involved w/ the AAC. :D

I just got my blower motor working by changing the blower motor relay attached to the motor. Now my AC works...it blows cold...and the heat...it was a couple of cold winters. Now to work on the cruise control. I just ordered the rubber stoppers for the clutch and brake petal switches... I noticed that the stopper on that's supposed to be on the clutch petal is gone.

Anyway, I did finally figure out how to rip that old ass alarm out...for those of you who remember...

I did a search about the blower motor and came across this thread. So, it's probably the relay that affects the blower motor, huh?

From the time we bought the Z, if you keep the fan in the "on" position when shutting off the engine, then starting up again, there's a little 25v glass tube fuse that would blow (under the dash next to the blower motor). Yesterday, I made the mistake of not turning off the fan. Thought the fuse had blown and I was in for a simple fix. Not so much, I guess.

The fuse is fine, I even put a new one in there this morning just in case. Blower motor still won't come on. I checked the fuse box... no fuse in the slot where there should be one. Not even anything to plug one into. Oh, there's a space and holes for one, but no connectors.

So... anyone have any pics of this relay so I can see if I even have one?

Page 98 of the Haynes manual... Relay for the blower motor is on the actual bottom of the entire fan / motor unit. Should be visible if you get upside down and look up under the passenger dash.

Thanks, Nismo... I'll have to crawl up under there tomorrow and take a peek. These rides home at night are getting pretty chilly!

Well... that was a pain in the bootay. Not to mention a lot of cold drives home from work!

Anyway, the relay was good...still is. There was a loose/old wire that connected to the glass fuse next to the blower motor. So, I did a quick cut and splice.

Not only does my heat work, the auto climate control works the way it's supposed to!

Next up, 200 rwhp AND a/c.
