Hello z car family, I am working on a 1983 280zx turbo, my cam measures way under spec. I am wondering if anyone can suggest where to buy a new one from, rockers as well. thanks.

If you haven't already, you might want to review some of the existing threads in the forum regarding camshafts for your engine. A quick forum search will turn them up.

Cam is under spec compared to what? You measured the lobes? Lashpad / rocker clearance? More details please.

I got the fsm which shown the min and max dimensions for the cam lobes. I work in a machine shop and have access to some very accurate measuring tools. Several of the lobes are 10 thousandths under spec. The car is running very poorly, won't rev over 3000 rpm most of the time. The car has 220,000 miles and is all original.

 

You'll probably find you have other issues than the cam with it running poorly and not reving over 3K.

If you are going to replace the cam on a turbo car I'd get an "A" grind cam from an NA car as a performance upgrade
