I am thinkin about buying an 82 Datsun ZX but the guy says that the engine is locked up. HE checked the compression and that is all good. Any suggestions?

Did you ask him HOW and WHEN the "engine locked up" ? How did he check compression if the motor is locked up? That would be impossible to do....

 

This is what his ad is...
"I have a 280 for sale I bought it with a locked up motor in it. I bought a turbo motor that I planed to swap in it but work got really slow so I couldn't spend the money. the turbo motor has every thing but the distributor. When work got slow I got the idea to swap the heads on the motors to get the car so I could drive the car. I got the heads swap done and couldn't get the car to start. so I start looking at everything. I checked the compression all good there, then the spark good there, then the fuel and I thought it was good but I think the fuel was bad in the tank so I took the fuel out and put new fuel in and nothing still. So I think the fuel filter and/or injectors might be bad. I have more injectors for the car. " I dont have expansive knowledge about these cars... more exp on trucks on carb trucks so this is out of my league here

 

Ah jeez... sounds like he's a 17 year old.

first off, how much is he asking, cause its not running and you are doing him and the car a favor taking it off his hands, cause he is a "carb" guy, i would offer 300 and go from there imo

 

if it is an 82 it ain't no Datsun. Tell him you will take it off his hands free of charge. With all that swapping going on no telling what you got. Unless you know these cars pretty good or you consider yourself an ace wrench I wouldn't chance it
