5 lug wheels on 4 lug hubs
 

I have been looking for awhile for some 4x4.5 4 lug wheels used in a 16x7 and not had much luck.
I remembered I had a set of pretty nice cond WEDS 2 pc 16x7 in the basement that came w/ my RX7 TurboII all those years ago.
I put 'em in up against the stock 14" ers and it looks pretty good.
The offset or backspace looks good, so the question is:
Is there a 5 lug setup that will bolt onto the car, or do I have to run adapters, and if I do, what are the chances of actually having acceptable wheel balance?
The stock wheels on the '81 are not hub centric, rather "stud" centric
(if that is even the proper description), so I imagine any adapters would also require shouldered wheel nuts to allow the adapter to be centered, then the 16"s could go onto a raised area machined into the adapter outer face to then be hubcentric.
I feel that I am pretty much pissin' in the wind on this one, but has anyone on here done something like this and had success.
We are not gonna be driving this thing in autocross, just basically weekend joy riding, with the occasional on ramp blast.
OK, maybe a "Rockford"/year, but no more than that!

I swear man, I did a search by entering "wheel adapters", n' got bupkis!

First link looks waaaaaaaay involved - I was hoping there was a later model hub/brake disc assy that would bolt on...

Second link I did not see a 4 to 5 lug adapter:102:, PLUS does anyone have any success stories using adapters? I am quite skeptical in regard to this actually working, but I am a cheap bahstig, and those wheels were sittin' in the basement.

Hmmmmm, maybe I can work a trade for wheels that will bolt straight on???

MM can make you a set, you just need to contact them (FYI... you can find just about any combination wheel adapter on ebay, for less than MM). Bleach was running 5lug adapters on 18" wheels for his 280zxt. They are fine for daily driving, but many people advise not to use them on the track.

Go to the wreckers and find a z31. (300zx). Unbolt the front hubs and the bolt onto our cars. Take out the rear axles and rotors and install to the rear of your car. That's what Ross at mm does. Hes a friend of mine

Sure... make your own.

I found a set of HR31/RB20ET rear arms many years ago. exactly the same as 280zx except they have the drum handbrake (not the stupid ever seizing stock ones). Add Z32 rotors and calipers, Z31 hubs etc. all bolt for bolt. Fronts are Z31 hubs with Z32 rotors and calipers. catch here is you need an adapter for the caliper to the stock strut.
