Well, first of all the enignes in the 280zx and 300zx are completely different, so the transmission will not bolt up. so no, you can't really do that. You'd have to have a custom bellhousing made.
There is one other option though. The 1984 Nissan Maxima was the last year Nissan used a straight six in the Maxima. that year also had the first 4-speed auto for any L-series. Take that transmission and put it in your 280ZX. That should work flawlessly.
The trouble will be finding that car. Luckily most every Maxima comes with an auto.
