280zx idle issues
Hey guys Im new to the community trying to reach out for some help.
I have a 1983 Nissan 280zx, 5 speed transmission. When i first got the car it ran with no issues but started to die on me once it was driven for more then 30 minutes. It did not overheat but it i felt that the fuel was getting to hot. All i had to do is wait for 5-10 minutes on the side of the road and the car would start right up. Thinking it might be fuel related i changed the fuel pump and filter but only made it worse. Now the car starts up but nor for to long. The idle stays at 400-500 for a few minutes before shutting off. I've replaced the fuel pump 3 times but nothing changes.
Something interesting that i found yesterday was crude fuel on the spark plugs. Since the car was driving fine when i purchased it i assumed it would run normal again until gas flooded them again. That was the case but only when i kept the rpm's at 800 (manually holding it at 800), it sounded a whole lot better but the revolutions still stayed around 400-500 when left alone and eventually died out.
