280ZX Coming back!

Hopefully I'm gonna have my 2+2 back on the road in a couple days. sense my S30 I got is so damned rusted away I'm just gonna steal it engine and dump it in my 2+2 Interestingly the head and block number are the same as my 2+2's engine.

We'll see how it goes and atm I can't think of any questions to ask. lol

Actually I do have one. What would you used to clean of 30 years of oil and grease off an engine? I was thinking of blasting it with baking soda.

dont blast it with baking soda... bring it to a professional car wash and pay them to steam clean it... make sure you cover and block any holes thats goes in the motor... after that change the oil pan gasket and front and rear mail seals...

I just seal up all of the holes, cover it in degreaser and pressure wash it. Its a good idea as ice said to replace the main seals and pan gasket while the motors out.

I thought I said I was replacing the seals. huh Oh well. And ya I'm replacing the Rear main as idk how its still holding back oil, the VC, Front seal and oil pan gaskets. sense I should put a ZX oil pan on it. or does it matter?

And I honestly don't want to load it into the back of my truck to pressure wash it. Yes I'm being a bit lazy lol

Well I kinda started to clean the engine. One side is rusted, the other side still actually has paint left under about an inch of grease. I think I'll just take the entire car down to the car wash after I put it together and clean it really well then as atm I don't want to haul that engine down to the car wash just to pressure wash it and I'm not gonna rent one.

So tomorrow it gets new seals, flywheel, intake, and dizzy! should be fun

Ok after getting the engine cleanish, I pulled the oil pan off to install the new one and its gasket. But when I did I found tons of shards of I think its brass. Its solid but is kinda brittle I can break the shards in my hands sometimes. Nothing seems to be lose inside the engine. Anyone have any ideas where it might have came from?

im guessing its the old valve seals.. theyre not brass but plastic... take off your valve cover and inspect your valve seals... thats my guess..

Well I didn't see anything missing from the valve train. But I did find out that even tho the heads are the same, N47. Theres no CHT sensor on this one and there is on my old one.
I cant believe I over looked something like that. Now I either have to find a way to install the 280Zs EFI or Install my SUs. OR do nothing at all.

That damn Demon 280Z STILL fights me! I swear!
