I agree

I'm also certain it's electrical, but if they can 't find it, I figure a complete engine re-build mechanical and electrical will solve all the problems, if I replace everything than it should run fine, besides, I'll know it's done right! I'll let you know after I talk to the mechanic tomorrow.

this is happening with my 78 as well and i found out its the stupid fpr it went bad and is not putting fuel pressure with the return line. If your engine is a true 79 then there should be no chts.

Here's a suggestion. I don't know if this will do anything, but one thing I'd say to do is get some seafoam from an auto parts store. Stick a vacuum line in it and let that run through your intake and exhaust. It'll all burn out as white smoke. Doesn't harm anything, but it's a good way to see if you have an intake/exhaust leak. That was how I checked to see where my leak was coming from, which leads to a bunch of issues similar to yours, but mine works in reverse. It's when the car is cold and fine when warm.
