hey what is a good muffler and maybe cat for a 83 280zx turbo.
I dont want to go really cheap but I also dont have alot of money to throw away.
I want kinda of a good kinda ricer sound..but lower..
High flow cats are they good for turbo's...

I see the ricer mufflers on Ebay are they any good?

Don't buy ebay shiz...

Just go to a well known muffler shop & have them install what you need. Magna-flow & Flowmaster are the two main performance mufflers.

I have a Flowmaster performance cat (for emissions day only ) and a Bullet muffler.

 

Ebay mufflers are great ! i bought apexi turbo 300zx z-31 muffler for my 280zx turbos and they work great. ! sound great too ! thats useing the stock CAT... but when useing no cat or called a STRAIGHT PIPE..

 

Works great... but look is a diff issue... even from your avatar pic I can tell your ricerocket muffler is crooked

 

Please dont put one of those EBay fart cans on your car. They sound terrible and look even worse

 

LOL thnks nismopick but if u take a look at the stock exhaust system there is like a round " reverse " u " shape were the stock muffler could go i used that and also used the right exhaust hanger now.. the muffler is alot straighter now then when that old picture was taken... trust me that pic was taken before the car even ran...

ive got a $50 ebay cat, and a $25 kragen glasspack, 2" pipe all the way straight back on my NA and its awesome! Its like having half of a ferrari v-12

 

Ebay cat .. was it a high flow one ? and just a reg glasspack WOW I would not have even thought of that.. might be a plan.. if I can keep it ..

Yah, its a supposedly high flow, stainless steel. Its 4"x11" should be more available. I put it right after my header, then the muffler right after that. Its all short enough that you can run a side pipe, I couldn't get away with it for smog purposes though, so pipe out the back.

 

don't get a ricer one, or an ebay one. Flowmasters are great for emmissions like nismopick said but restrict a lot of air because it has baffles all on the inside. Magnaflow mufflers are specially made for their straight-flow through design and has a badass sound. it's a very deep sound and no rice rocket crap. Magnaflow also sells a high-flow cat setup. i went to a local muffler shop and bought both and believe me, it's well worth it. it's pretty loud and definately turns head (in the right way, if u get a ricer one...yes it will turn heads...to a garbage can cause they want to vomit) LOL
