"Violations, list all that need to be replace or repaired: 1. Defective Exhaust" This is what my warning read tonight after i got pulled over by the county mounty, was almost in town to after deciding to not go to some stupid drive in theatre out in the boonies. Yeah he says my exhaust is too loud, (duh) but if i was in the city no cop would give a shit. He followed me for like a mile or 2 with his radar on before putting on his cherries 200ft from the city line. Anyways, either I get my exhaust quieted, or I get a $54 ticket in a few weeks. Which isnt that bad of a ticket but I dont think I want it on my record. He's like "I know exhausts are very expensive but in Wisconsin law you cannot have an exhaust system that is different than stock that makes the car louder, and i know they have little incerts you can stick in to your exhaust to quiet it down. So if you get it quieted, get a cop to check it out and sign this warning and mail it back to any of the area police departments and you wont give a citation" So uh.. yea... Does anyone know about these stupid incert things, or anything i could just shove up my exhaust pipe to quiet it down and then tear them out after a cop checks it?" I'd almost leave something in if it didnt let me loose any horsepower, but im thinking its gonna sound gay and make my car slower. Im just glad my car didnt shoot fireballs back at the cop cause its been scaring alot of soccer moms latley. 2.5" exhaust with busted converter and headers aint the quietest thing I suppose :D

i think your refering to silencers they have for certain mufflers... some mufflers have the option of putting on a silencer on but if your muffler isnt one of them then you wont be able to do it... your best bet is to get a mild muffler but with the best airflow.. try checkin out borlla.. theyre not too loud but perform pretty well...

Well if I have to get a new muffler id rather just bite the 54 dollar ticket :)

How would a cop signing off on the ticken know your car isn't quieter now? Just say it is, or did they take some decibel reading?

just before getting it checked and signed for, put some steel wool in there, then take it out once you get around the corner :D

dont worry about that, it's ticket's like these that you have to worry about:

Violations:
1) Speeding 66 in a 40mph zone
2) Changing lanes without a turn signal
3) Exhibition of Acceleration

My mom lent me her new pathfinder and this one road (where about a year ago I got stopped by the same cop in my old car) was completely empty. I thought I'd have at it. well officer nino was behind me the whole time.

I check my mirrors all the time now, and only do the hardcore stuff in parking lots. rent a cops are alot easier to get away from.

Well it is freakin loud, I think it would be hard to pull the wool over his eyes, or maybe a city cop just wouldnt care and sign it anyways, but yea it isnt a huge deal, I was doing probably 20 mph half a mile before I passed him, things could be much worse. Steel wool? Maybe I will try that :)

btw I used to have a mp3 of my car starting up but I guess its not around anymore, maybe I will make a new one with a drive by recording or something besides just a revving, just to let you guys get an idea of what the cop thought was "defective" :D
