turbo swap help please
#2
You can yes.. The compression will be higher so you will need to make sure it is in tune good. It would probably be best to go with a complete P90 head and your block. I am doin a turbo swap but I got my complete turbo motor for 400.00 it was way worth it. Now all I need is the bigger turbo.

well, the '79 block already has dished pistons in it, so putting a P79 on it will keep the compression low just like a factory turbo engine.
The pistons and rings may not be as strong, but they'll do for lower boost.

Combusion chamber in the P79 and P90 is the same. Both are large combustion chambers and both have a 'closed' chamber desgin for better quench. Both have round intake ports. Both have the same size valves.
the p79 (non-turbo) has slightly smaller round exhaust ports with steel liners to burn off excess fuel.
the P90 (turbo) has square exhaust ports which are said to flow better
