Turbo Questions

I've got a 1979 280zx 3 speed automatic...

What kind of engine performance mods can i put in?
Can i put a turbo in this?

Is it better that i do an engine sway or are there many things i can do to this engine?

Welcome to ZDriver...

The first thing to do, is use the "Search" feature... That way, people won't jump all over you for being the 14000th person to ask the same question without searching first.

I'd suggest searching the forums before you ask a question you think someone else has.

here's a fast response to keep ya happy

you can put a turbo if you really desired to but your question about the engine swap is a much more reasonable way to turbo.
Engine mods...
Before you do that, I'd suggest getting a 5-speed manual. It'll boost your acceleration and speed much more than engine mods on a N/A at this moment.
You could bore it out and stroke it. Bigger cam... etc

Unfortunately though, nobody will ever get to read it because Snwy's gonna get banned way before he's done working on the conversion

hey thanks for the info...i'm still not sure on whether i want to keep this car all original or go for the engine swap.

i like the way she runs with the 3 speed and restoring it to all original might be my ultimate goal.

if you like the auto you could also just tune the engine up good and then swap in a 4-speed auto from a 1983-84 Maxima and at the same time lower your rear gear ratio. That'll give you more power but still be able to cruise nice on the freeway.
