Throttle body cleaning in 280ZX

Hi,
Has anyone cleaned their Throttle body cleaning in 280ZX NA? I was going to do that this past weekend but couldn't figure out how to remove the hose just ahead of thottle body with all the connections. Thanks in advance.. SurgeNJ

Yeah I had to once, when it got gummed up with antifreeze. I unhooked the main big line going into it. And sprayed carb cleaner, and it smoked and cleared right up. Because I couldn't go past 2000rpms. A hose burst, and sucked antifreeze into my air system. I took it all apart. And cleaned it up. Hope this helps. But I would suggest fuel injector spray if available. The carb cleaner is not good for your catalytic convertor. I don't want you to damage your convertor, because of my account. Later

I tried removing it but it feels like it will break if I try to remove it... Can I remove the air flow meter first & then remove that hose?

Its a lot easier if you pull out the AFM first.

Yeah drew is right. It is easier to remove the air flow meter. Mailnly screws on the hoses, and a couple bolts on the bottom. Hope this helps you out. Get back if it doesn't, and I will try to explain how to do it step by step.

actually i was thinking of doing this same thing over the weekend, even if im not really having any problems with air flow you think it'll still make a noticable difference?
