snow

Hey I was woundering
sence I am moving to Illonois or however you spell it, anway sence I am moving up there I was woundering how many people on this network live close to there, or in the snow?
who dose the body of the 280 zx 1980 hold up to the snow? I am wundering if I should bring mine with me. If I don't I am going to miss it verry much.

Stock Datsun's didn't have good seam sealers & metal protection, hence the reason they're all rusted. In fact, most of the pre-1984 Japanese cars were rust prone.

Stock 280zx's don't do well in snow... or wet climates period. It will eventually start to rot. Best thing to do IMO: drive it on clear, good weather days & have a different daily driver. If that's not possible, make sure you wash it as often as possible (even the undercariage).

I Live In British Columbia, Canada, If You Want To Talk Snow Ask A Canadian, I Do Not Drive In The Snow Or When There Is Salt On The Roads. Z's Don't Do Snow Well, Got Caught At Work Once In The Snow, That Sucked, O Yeah I Live 2 Minutes From The Washington Border, So Im Not That North, No Igloos Here!!

Crap, I just realized it snows out here too. This will be my first winter with my Z. She's a cali car and has never seen a 'real' winter. I hope it doesn' t snow bad out here. I got a lot of crap to get done this winter. I know she wont' stand up to well to the snow though cause she can't even take the rain without a new rust spot popping up. Sucks. I don't care if it adds 50lbs, I'm getting that undercarriage covered up real good once I get all the rust taken care of.

Oh yeah I'm sorry s/c. Here's a pic of what we're talking about. I forgot you live in AZ. Lucky bastard, you've never had to endure the pain and heartache known as snow.

How nice is to live here in the caribbean. For us in Puerto Rico, the coldest part of the winter is like 86 degrees, the hottest is like 103 in summer

Was there a cheesy self absorbed wanna be white rapper from the early 90's that went by that name? Here, check this out: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/07...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg That should give you an idea of just how gay rain is ;)

While on the topic of this. What kind of things can you have done to a Z to make it hold up better in snow? As for snow I thought what really ruined the Z was essentially the salt that goes on the road. Since I've obtained this obsession with Z's I was curious if it would be possible to turn a Z into a winter car that could hold up. Have a Z for all year, that'd be cool.

Skully 11-29-2005 12:37 AM

undercoating...GOOD undercoating and washing it whenever you park it lol...

jfairladyz 11-30-2005 11:43 AM

yeah, definitely take the above advice. check, check, check and check again to make sure there is no exposed metal on the car. Any paint chips should be filled. This is especially important on the lower part of the car. It's amazing how quickly a paint chip can turn into a huge crater without treatment in the right kind of weather.

Skully 11-30-2005 12:14 PM

actualy you should rustproof the inside too..as it will rust INSIDE OUT..yes it will!!! and the rust could ruin your new undercoating!!! lol

jfairladyz 11-30-2005 02:21 PM

I'm moving into a biodome. I'm gonna make it really big so all my fellow Zer's can come and live in a rust free Z paradise :D

Yeah It Will Be Full Of Rice!!

jfairladyz 11-30-2005 10:21 PM

If only AZ didn't get so damn hot. It'd be a haven for all car enthusiasts. For now it's only for those packing A/C. :D

jfairladyz 11-30-2005 10:22 PM

On another note but still sort of on topic: I did see a biodome in either AZ or NM when I was passing through. It was out in the dessert (is there anything but out there :D ) It wasn't too huge but it was pretty cool to actually see one.
