hey everyone does anyone know if an 82 280zx turbo has points in the distributor

No. None of the 280zx's had points. In fact, none of the fuel injected Z's have points. All electronic ignitions. The 82/83 turbo distributor has only 3 parts: Chopper wheel, crank sensor, and a dust cover.
