Pistons...

Ok, so the machine shop can't find oversized pistons for my block. They're asking me to get oversized pistons .20 or higher. Well, it appears that oversized cast iron pistons are not for sale or there is a shortage, and I've already called about ten stores.
Finally, I found a store that could get .40 in about 3 weeks (the store is JE Pistons). I've found a couple of stores that carry forged .40 piston sets (at a high price tag).

Any ideas on other places where I could look for?

Yeah L28 .020 over pistons haven't been available on the common market for years. .040 is the common one.

MSA sells them, Nissan, BDA, and various other places.... in fact, I suggest contacting MSA or Nissan for any parts you or the machine shop needs.

MSA's not selling anything oversized no more...they have stock pistons only :(

Getting them from Nissan would probably take about a month and I'm sure I'd pay about $600.00 for stock pistons. But, I'm just assuming there. :paranoid:

I think ArizonaZ has a nice set of forged .40 pistons set, but they're about $650.00 and I was trying to avoid spending all that money.

you dont really want forged pistons anyways if it's just a mild street motor. Drawbacks outweigh the benefits if you're not pushing the limits of the cast pistons yet (which I hear is actually pretty high).

Yeah, and I don't really plan on buying those; it would just brake my budget for this project.

But I'm having a horrific time trying to find any type of oversized pistons.

.040 is the smallest oversized you could get these days. Have you checked Nissan's prices? That's where I got my .040 overs (L28ET)... I paid about $300 for them... tho that was 4 years ago.

Calling directly a Nissan dealer you mean? I called Courtesy Nissan and they only have stocks now.

Ok, I finally found the piston set at www.datsunstore.com

I will get them in about a week, so now it's time to remove the other engine now. :)
