Nos

Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you know what I would need to do to make my 1983 280ZX NOS compatable. Also have you ever seen a Z with NOS?

My brother's 260Z with 280ZX turbo engine & 5-speed had nitrous on it for awhile, until he nuked a piston. What I would suggest is to make sure your engine is in tip-top condition, and be sure not to advance the timing too much when running the nitrous, or else detonation will occur. Also, don't run too big of a "shot", and I'd say stay away from the "dry" setups - you'll need the extra fuel from a "wet" system. Just a thought, you might want to get a higher-volume fuel pump - my other brother's '89 Prelude needed that, and it ran like a champ after the pump and nitrous. Of course, his engine was rebuilt for spray, so it'll run for another 15,000 miles without abusing the button too much That's all I can think of right now ... hope that helps.

in my opinion i wouldnt suggest it...your gona spent way more money getting the n2o set up then just bumping up HP in the car...even when you get n2o going you still might blow the piston like hes brother...i mean its way too much of a risk on older cars...i dunno whatver you want tho

Just hook it up and let it blow. Big horsepower = big bang
Blowing up motors is what I do best

Don't roll your eyes
It's true, if he wants big power, then he should get used to the fact that power usually ends up braking alot of things. That's just the way it is. My secong gen eclipse made over 500 horses and it blew up all the time, that's why I sold it. Same problem with my RX-7. I know I will blow up this motor, once I get it turbo'd. It is only a matter of time. And it is not because of stupidity, it is because I push to hard and it can't take it and then I rebuild and push it a little less and it can't take it. Eventually I find the limits and leave it there.

My brother went through 20+ bottles in his 300ZX N/A. 150 shot DRY! Go figure However you could not stand behind it due to it running sooooo rich. I think this is what helped. If you do go with NOS make sure you do it right. Dirfto said it right, use a wet system and only go with 50-75 shot. If your engine is in good shape this will put the smile factor on your face But if you get toooo hungry you can lose your engine. Just for additional info to make the NOS experience alot safer do this. FORGET what you have seen on the movies, Forget about hitting the button. Trying to race or drift or what ever trying to hold a button down and drive at the same time is impossible. Also you dont want to have the button held down while your letting off the gas So to make your life more easy get yourself a gas pedal out of an automatic Z. On this pedal you will have a limit switch/Kickdown switch, When you punch an auto this switch makes contact and tells the tranny to downshift. You can use this switch as your Nos button, it wont come on unless you are at wide open throttle. You will also need to put a arming switch in your console or somewhere to kill the power going to the pedal switch so you can daily drive without the nos coming on. This will make a more manageable car while racing Believe me I'.ve been there
