I'm using a 160F degree thermostat in my L28ET... I want it as cool as possible. But I run a 180 in most of my n/a's. The temp gauge should be about straight up when driving normal.

I know this isn't exact but...
when I look at my stock gauge, it reads in the dead center, or a little bit to the left of it when I am driving

normal temp is 195 * u can run 180 or 160.. or do what i do and dont use one if your in a high heat area " arizona " new mexico... and if u want to run cooler run 70% anti freeze and 30 % water.. works well in my 280zxt 82

we had a huge discussion about this temp thing in some other thread. just because you want it cooler doesnt mean the stat should be cooler, by having circulation move too fast through the rad it actually hinders cooling, it will run hotter, you must restrict coolant flow through the rad so it actually has time to cool the water. i run a 195 stat in mine with a 3 core high density rad. if i even put a 180 in mine it overheats like crazy. too much flow.
