Need To Know What Other Automatics I Can Use As A Quick No Hassle Replacement For My 1982 280 Zx Turbo. Like Years And Car Models Besides Of Coarse Another 280 Zx. I Know Were Some Maxima's Are, Will They Work And If So What Years. Thanks
Well you certainly don't want to use a 4-cyl automatic.
So your only options are the 280Z/ZX and the Datsun 810/Maxima.
1977-84 use the L-series engine in the 810/Maxima. 1983/84 have the 4-speed auto. I have no idea if they are a bolt-in swap. The 4-speed would be nice but they are certainly a little larger... those are not a bolt-in. Someone years ago did a writeup on putting the auto with OD into a 280ZX Turbo.
Where do you live? I know around here people give away or throw away good 3-speed autos on occasion.

there was a guy on Craigslist trying to sell a used 3-speed auto from a Z for about $50.
Also, I don't know why you would discount finding a 280ZX auto because here in Washington they are very plentiful. sure you don't find the auto as much as the manual but we have no shortage of parts cars unlike someone living on the east coast. Keep looking, and if I find one I'll try to remember to let you know or I'll post info on it in the Marketplace on this website.

Are you wanting the auto because that was what was in it, or do you really want it? What is the gas millage like on the automatic vrs manule? The thing I like about manules is I like that I can choose my rpm range, and shift when I want, and I know how to work on them. I havn't heard any thing bad about the auto yet as far as how long they last.
