Need some sources

Ok i decided on cold days when im not in the garage i can put my head on and all that since the engine is in the house...i got my ARP head studs from summit since they are 100$ cheaper then zcarparts...

I need to get a 2mm steel headgasket...I hear people talking about HKS steel ones but i googled with little results...zcarparts.com has them but i dont know if they are stock or if they have diff sizes (i have .020 overbore..)....

any ideas?

Did you try contacting HKS USA? www.hksusa.com . I'm sure you wont find any info on their site but if you shoot them an email or give them a call they might be able to help you.

I bought my HKS 2mm headgasket from MSA for $99. It's now like $159 or so. The thing is bloody awesome & will take anything I throw at it!

FYI... it's overbored for overbored blocks.

thanks...so thats one option...but i might have some other problems yet ....seems they shaved my head way more then i freaking wanted to...

seems that if i put a 2mm gasket on..THEN will my compression be close to stock setup with n42 head and dished pistons which is about 8.38:1...and to me this is a little bit on the high side for a turbo...

How much did they shave it? Did they torque it down in a jig before shaving it? How much did you ask them to shave?

i said check the head...and do not shave anything when i first called them...
they callled me back and said...the head is warped...we will straighten it and shave off .010" to clean up...i said ok 10 isnt bad at all ....well its .080" off the stock size...i dont know what they did i wasnt there when they did it...i hate this hick town!!!! sorry im kinda enraged...

edit: i also told them that this was going to be a turbo application...so i dont want my compression to increase!!! ...ahh i bet they never seen an import engine before...v8 munching bastards!!

8.38 to 1. That does not seem high to me. Most stock turbo engines, are 8.5 to 1. And from looking at the blocks, they look incrediblly beefy. Am I missing something.

If they shaved the head make sure you shim the towers or you'll have too much slack in your timing chain.

Newer technology has produced turbocharged engines that are ~8.5:1 CR... but the stock L28ET was still 7.4:1 CR. Sure... new engines might be built w/ new technology... but the main idea of a turbocharged combustion chamber is: more area (aka lower CR) = more room for forced induction, and less detonation. Main idea when building an L28ET... keep the CR low, so you can run high boost w/o detonation.

yup its a big increase in compression from stock to what i have now...but ill make it work..ill let my megasquirt dump buckets of fuel in that chamber and ill retard the timing more... and a good intercooler i think ill be fine for now at least...If i get this thing driveable with a turbo on it boosting 10psi ill be happy...ill consider diff head and more boost ETC later down the road

here is a good read on high CR that very knowledgable people discussed...

You also gotta remember that people are turbo and supercharging everything. Even cars with rediculously high CR's like the S2K. Granted they're very limited in the amount of boost they can run with those CR's but it's definitely doable.

but then you gotta look at how much technology has increased in engine and head design, pistons cranks rods etc over the last 25 years....but still im looking at a positive side to this thing...

and yeah my Nissan dealer doesnt have a 2mm steel headgasket...

C - 16 baby, 116 octane, = no detonation. Or propane injection, or alchool injection, or water injection. the injections are very cheap to run, just don't run out I lost one motor that way

I can barely afford 91. I couldn't imagine having to fill up with 116 Back when gas was just over a dollar there was a Chevron near my house that had some 100+ octance fuel and even then it was running a few bucks a gallon. I don't even want to know what it's like now. (now that I put that I'm sure somebody is going to post how much it is )
