N47 Head
 

So I have a N42 cylinder head that originally came with the L28e. The intake valves were bent so I went to pick and pull and got a new head. Once I got home I realized that I had gotten a N47 head.

Are these two interchangeable? The only real visual difference is the exhaust ports on the N47 are circular while the ones on the N42 are rectangular.

I can see that causing a minor problem. I don't know how big of a problem this is going to cause if it is going to cause a problem at all. If anyone has any experience with this can you help me out.

any L6 head will fit any L6 block.

as long as the exhaust manifold wraps arround the exhaust ports your good. but i also belive the n42 is better. i ran a n42 on a f54 with beautiful results.

i had a n47 just before i put on my p79. they were fairly comparable, they had decent size valves and the shrouds in the exhaust have decent flow as well. dont cut them out thinking your helping perfomance
