N42 Intake

Is there a valid reason to go to an N42 non-egr intake? Other than it looks really cool. If I did, what would it do to the emissions circuit of my '83 N/A?

it would make emmissions harder to pass and no performance help at all.

It really wouldn't do anything as there really isn't an emissions circuit. You'd just be eliminating the EGR valve, which would require just plugging off a vacuum line and the EGR tube. Unless you have to go through an under hood inspection the EGR valve not being there won't cause you to fail emissions. I passed emissions with my Turbo ZX with a plugged off EGR, incorrectly hooked up AAC, etc and had no problems. The readings didn't differ much from my N/A 280ZX when it was emissions tested.

Here in MI there is no emissions to pass. Would it help to dissipate the heat from the exhaust and keep the intake air cooler?

no. like i said, its just MUCH cleaner. if you have a webbed (theres webbing between the intake runners) intake, the N42 isnt webbed so that MIGHT help dissipate heat. a lil

If there is a gain from removing the EGR, it's pretty much unnoticeable. If anything you're losing just a tiny bit of gas mileage as now you're missing out on that tiny extra bit of unburned fuel that gets recirculated. If anything I liked getting rid of the EGR simply because it was one less thing to get stuck open or go bad.

I can dig that. I'll watch it and see where the price goes and decide from there.

i recomend not paying anything over 100 dollars.
